Michael Thornton, Chief Revenue Officer, Starz: Based in Englewood at the
company's corporate headquarters, Thornton is responsible for programming acquisitions for the seventeen Starz channels as well as its on-demand offerings. In addition, he oversees the strategic direction of business and legal affairs related to the acquisition of programming content as well as business and legal affairs for distribution of the Starz companies' content with online/broadband distributors, transactional VOD/EST, and worldwide syndication of proprietary STARZ Original series and other Starz proprietary/licensed content. Prior to joining Starz in 2011, Thornton served in several senior executive positions with legal and programming responsibilities during his career, and most recently at Disney/ABC Domestic Television as executive vice president, business and legal affairs since 2005. Thornton oversaw multi-platform strategy and negotiations for post-theatrical distribution of The Walt Disney Studios' film output and the post-network distribution of ABC Studios' television product. Prior to that, Thornton was Senior Vice President, Programming Acquisitions for DIRECTV since 1999 where he led programming strategy, including the acquisition of all on-air acquired and original programming and negotiated successfully numerous network, local broadcast station, sports subscription, and one-off event deals. Thornton graduated Magna Cum Laude from Dartmouth College with an A.B. degree in Economics, and holds a Juris Doctorate from the UCLA School of Law and an MBA in Entertainment Marketing and Finance from the Anderson Graduate School of Management, also at UCLA.

Sam Landman, Principal, Comcast Ventures: Sam Landman is a Comcast Ventures Principal, who works out of both the firm's Philadelphia and New York offices. He sources and identifies new investment opportunities, conducts due diligence on pending investments, and advises Comcast Ventures portfolio companies including WhoSay, Videology, Fullscreen, and Integrate. Prior to joining Comcast Ventures in 2009, Sam worked as the Director of Business Development for The Electric Sheep Company, an Emmy award-winning creator of virtual worlds and social games for major brands and media companies. Prior to that, Sam worked as a Senior Associate for Gladwyne Partners where he helped originate investment opportunities, analyze investment prospects and advise portfolio companies. Sam holds a bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science from Bucknell University and received his M.B.A. from Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business.

Scott L Brown, SVP Global Engineering & Strategic Relations, The Nielsen Company: Scott L. Brown serves as Senior Vice President, Global Communications, Client Insights & Strategic Relations for Nielsen. In this role, Scott is a frequent speaker and sought after visionary for impending changes to the media landscape, the impact of new technology, and for the path of new advertising models. Scott is responsible for client insights and communications, strategic business relationships, and works with media strategy and digital platform development for the company. Scott focuses much of his time on establishing and managing business relationships with advanced technology and new media companies. He is the key company spokesperson for evolving television technologies, advanced metering systems, and new technology development. Scott provides the internal and external company vision and leadership for the new world of digital convergence, connected TV technology, and multi platform measurement, etc. Scott, is a veteran of Nielsen, with roots going back to Advanced Software Systems Design, progressing into Senior Operations Management, and then into his current position with Nielsen. Scott's expertise is grounded in technology, the implications for Nielsen measurement, coupled with a deep client following on what is relevant in the media world. Scott is frequently asked to forecast the future for major advertisers, and media companies. Scott holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters Degree from Illinois State University.

Saul J. Berman, Ph.D. is Partner &Vice President, Global Service Area Leader for Strategy & Transformation within IBM Global Business Services (GBS). In this role he works closely with major corporations around the globe on strategic business issues. He leads a worldwide team of IBM consultants focused on delivering business value through business, technology and operations strategy engagements as well as organizational change initiatives. Prior to this role, Dr. Berman was the Lead Strategy Partner for the Media and Entertainment Practice as well as a Global Strategy & Change Services Leader at IBM GBS. Before joining IBM, Saul was the Global Strategic Change Leader at PwC Consulting. He was also previously with The Boston Consulting Group, a divisional Vice President with Broadway Department Stores and an Assistant Professor of Management at the University of Southern California. Dr. Berman has more than 25 years of consulting experience advising senior management of large corporate and start-up organizations. He has directed engagements addressing issues of strategy, organization, and operations. He has worked extensively on issues of competitive positioning, differentiation, new business plans & strategies, new business models, growth, operational & cost improvement, operations/ manufacturing strategy, organizational design and enterprise transformation. His clients have included most of the major media companies as well as internet companies, telecommunication companies, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers and automotive companies in the United States, Japan, Europe and Australia. Dr. Berman holds a Ph.D. in Management and Information Systems and a MBA in Production Systems and Operations Research from the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Economics at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania,. A frequent speaker to industry and strategic planning organizations such as the World Economic Forum, MIPCOM, Consumer Electronics Association, McGraw Hill Media Summit, the National Association of Broadcasters, Online Publishers Association and Digital Hollywood. Dr. Berman was named as one of the Top 25 Consultants of 2005 by Consulting Magazine & Top 50 Marketing executives over 50 by Global CMO Magazine. He is also an editorial advisory board member for Strategy & Leadership Magazine. Additionally, Dr. Berman served as a board member of the USC Film School Entertainment Technology Center, and of the Southern California chapter of the Strategic Leadership Forum. He has also authored numerous books and publications including Not For Free: Revenue Strategies for a New World, published by Harvard Business Review Press, and the recent IBM studies: “Beyond Digital - Connecting media and entertainment to the future,” IBM Institute for Business Value, 2012 and “The Power of Cloud - Driving business model innovation,” IBM Institute for Business Value, 2012.

Shawn Gold, Chief Marketing officer, Mahalo: Shawn Gold is Chairman of newly formed Social Approach, a digital media advisory focused on Social Discovery platforms and technologies. Formerly, he was CMO , head of marketing & content for MySpace. At MySpace Gold spearheaded the development and implementation of marketing initiatives and campaigns for MySpace's more than 110 million users worldwide. He also oversaw the growth and expansion of popular MySpace franchises including Music, Film, Comedy and MySpace Celebrity, as well as creating MySpace's “Impact awards” and “Our Planet” programs to recognize and reward social responsibility. Gold has over 15 years of experience in digital marketing and content strategy, including serving as publisher of WeblogsInc, the largest publisher of professional blogs on the Web (now an AOL company). In 2000 he bacame president and chief strategy officer of Intermix (formerly eUniverse), where his team brought the online entertainment network to profitability, making it the most popular on the Web. Additionally, he headed marketing and communications for WHN, an ecommerce company that provided marketing services to the 2002 Olympics, ABC, NBC, Comedy Central, MTV and Fox. Prior to, Shawn served as head of strategic planning at Rare Medium where he created the inaugural interactive communication strategies for P&G, General Foods, Mattel and Nestle. In 1995, Shawn was GM and Founder of Icon New media's Advertising Division, publishing and There he created the first interstitial ads on the web and an industry-leading advertising system based on time rotation and contextual integration. He started developing interactive content in 1992 as a partner with TouchTunes Interactive, a telecommunications music marketing service in the USA, Japan and New Zealand. He is a founding board member of the Producers Guild of America's New Media Council and author of The Guide to Laughing at Life book series that promotes wellness through laughter.
