Dawnie Walton, Deputy Managing Editor, ESSENCE Magazine: Dawnie Walton serves as deputy
managing editor for ESSENCE magazine. In this role, while also overseeing Essence.com, Walton is responsible for integrating the brand's print and digital properties. She also manages copy, production and research on behalf of the magazine. Walton joined ESSENCE in January of 2012 as the managing editor for ESSENCE.com, and her contributions have been invaluable-developing the site's video offerings, live stream capabilities and an e-commerce platform with the launch of the ESSENCE Beauty Matchmaker tool. Walton has achieved record highs in unique visitors, created impactful social media campaigns and established several new editorial franchises that engage the passion points of our audience. Under Walton's leadership, ESSENCE has seamlessly aligned our digital strategies with our in-book franchises to position the brand for continued success. Previously Walton served as deputy editor at the award-winning EW.com; helped lead the relaunch of the ASME Award-winning photography website LIFE.com; and served as editorial director of BravoTV.com. A graduate of Florida A&M University, Walton lives in Brooklyn.







Matthew Starker, Director, Business Development, Condé Nast Entertainment: Matt is the Director of Business Development & Strategy for Condé Nast's newly formed Entertainment Group (CNE). The Entertainment Group develops feature films, TV and digital video based on the company's iconic brands such as GQ, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Wired and The New Yorker. Matt's group runs strategic partnerships, distribution of CNE original content and growth strategy for CNE's digital channels. Prior to joining Condé Nast Entertainment, Matt worked at VEVO, the music entertainment platform, where he worked with the product, programming and business development teams. Matt is a graduate of Villanova University and Wake Forest Business School.











Kevin Chernett, Executive Vice President of Strategic Alliances, Live Nation Network: Kevin Cherne
tt was appointed to this role in December 2009. He oversees the company’s national corporate strategic alliance efforts and has worked for Live Nation and its predecessors since 2003, when he joined the company as Vice President of National Sales & Marketing. In 2008 he became Senior Vice President of Strategic Alliances and helped grow the Live Nation Network Division which is one of the key pillars of the organization today. The Alliance Division has been responsible for establishing key strategic corporate partnerships that leverages the Live Nation platform with companies such as Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Coca-Cola, UPS, Citibank, Anheuser-Busch, Ford, State Farm & Kelloggs. Kevin came to Live Nation from MusicVision, Inc. a company he co-founded in April 1998 where he served on its Board of Directors and as the company’s Executive Vice President of Sales since inception.






Jonathan Carson, Chief Revenue Officer, VEVO: Jonathan is Chief
Revenue Officer overseeing VEVO’s global premium sales force and network of sales partners including all advertising sales and integrated sponsorships. Prior to joining VEVO, Jonathan spent six years with The Nielsen Company where he helped spearhead the company’s digital transformation. Most recently CEO, Digital, Jonathan led Nielsen’s digital and mobile strategy and operations across more than 70 countries. An accomplished entrepreneur, Jonathan was previously co-founder and CEO of BuzzMetrics, the world’s leading social media intelligence company. While at BuzzMetrics, Carson helped establish the concept of social media with marketers, including co-founding the Word of Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA).












Linda Ong is the Preident and brand strategist for TruthCo., a unique brand cons
ultancy that introduces new brands to popular culture and helps existing brands stay culturally relevant. Ong has been at the center of some of the most high-profile brand transformations in the media and entertainment industry over the past 20 years including the launch of iconic reality network Bravo and America's sweetheart Ellen Degeneres. Prior to opening her own shop, Ong was senior vice president of marketing for Oxygen Media, where she oversaw the multi-platform launch of Oxygen Network. Prior to that, she was managing director of strategy and creative director for Lee Hunt Associates, with clients such as MSNBC and Sundance Channel. Her award-winning work and involvement serving on the boards of AIGA/NY and PROMAX/BDA have led her to be a popular industry speaker and cultural commentator for Ad Age, TheWrap, The Hollywood Reporter and Entertainment Tonight. Mikhail Lapushner is the CEO and founder of OneBeat, which is dedicated to empowering the development and authenticity of the rapidly growing electronic dance music (EDM) space through compelling original content exclusive to its networks. Steven Masur, Senior Partner, Cowan DeBaets Abrahams & Sheppard, LLP: focuses his practice on corporate finance, M&A, intellectual property, strategic transactions, entertainment and new business concepts.
