Pam Schechter, Vice President, Business Affairs, Digital and Cable Entertainment, NBC/Universal
specializing in negotiating original and derivative digital content deals and television digital distribution rights deals. She is responsible for all original content deals for NBC Universal Digital Studio and is one of the lead attorneys for all advertiser sponsored content negotiations. She oversees all of the derivative webisode content negotiations for USA and Syfy Channels as well as Universal Cable Productions. In addition, Pam is the lead content lawyer for the NBC Universal entertainment cable websites including,, and and negotiates all of the television digital distribution rights deals for the NBC Universal cable networks and Universal Cable Productions Prior to working for NBC Universal, Pam started a small legal practice focusing on clients in reality television. She also produced shows for various cable networks such as Discovery, Fine Living and Court TV. Before becoming an independent producer and solo practitioner, Pam moved to Los Angeles from New York to negotiate deals for a website called “The Romp”. In New York, Pam was a television and business affairs executive for New Line Cinema and Court TV. She started her legal career in the corporate department of Willkie, Farr & Gallagher, focusing on Mergers and Acquisitions, after graduating from Fordham Law School.

Michael Thornton, Chief Revenue Officer, Star: He previously served as executive vp acquisitions,
business and legal affairs, a role in which he oversaw programming acquisitions for the 17 Starz channels and the company's on-demand and online offerings. Prior to joining Starz in 2011, Thornton served in several senior executive positions with legal and programming responsibilities during his career, and most recently at Disney/ABC Domestic Television as executive vice president, business and legal affairs since 2005. Thornton oversaw multi-platform strategy and negotiations for post-theatrical distribution of The Walt Disney Studios' film output and the post-network distribution of ABC Studios' television product. Prior to that, Thornton was Senior Vice President, Programming Acquisitions for DIRECTV since 1999 where he led programming strategy, including the acquisition of all on-air acquired and original programming and negotiated successfully numerous network, local broadcast station, sports subscription, and one-off event deals. Thornton graduated Magna Cum Laude from Dartmouth College with an A.B. degree in Economics, and holds a Juris Doctorate from the UCLA School of Law and an MBA in Entertainment Marketing and Finance from the Anderson Graduate School of Management, also at UCLA.

tent Strategy & Acquisition for Verizon, Ben Grad is responsible for FiOS TV’s content acquisition and strategy, including leading content acquisition negotiations with national cable networks and regional sports networks, developing FiOS TV’s multiplatform content offering, and managing financial and strategic analysis for key content-related initiatives at Verizon. Prior to joining Verizon in 2007, Ben held management positions at fuse, Time Warner and Universal Music Group.Ben started his career at Marakon Associates, a strategy consulting firm. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Princeton University and an MBA in finance and marketing from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Prior to that, he was a Client Services Partner at IBM Global Services in Communication Industry, serving clients such as Viacom, Bertelsmann, Cablevision and the New York Times. Shahid holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance from NYU's Stern School of Business, and is a Fellow at U. Penn's Wharton School of Business. He has published numerous white-papers, is a frequent speaker at leading industry conferences, and is often quoted in leading publications such as the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Red Herring, the New York Times, etc.
