The U.S. Online Gambling Market: The Latest in Internet Entertainment
Internet gambling is now legal and operating in three states - Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware. Legislation for new or expanded internet real money gaming have, or will likely be considered by California, Colorado, Hawaii, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Online wagering on horse races is legal and running in over half the country. Powerful interests for and against the expansion are proliferating and so are potential opportunities to make wagering compelling entertainment across platforms. We are already seeing the licensing of film and television properties, console games and sports as well as marketing partnerships. The underlying technology ensuring fraud-free payments and delivering of the best possible entertainment experience continues to improve. The panel consists of executives from the companies up and operating in the US now.

Matthew Katz, founder and CEO, CAMS: Matthew Katz, CAMS’s founder, drives the vision as the
company further diversifies its product offerings, extending into many verticals and payment markets, particularly within the online gaming industry. Mr. Katz has the unique distinction of starting a successful business while still in college introducing a new interactive online gambling methodology. Mr. Katz has a well established career as a successful entrepreneur having founded and partnered in several other businesses and consulting firms prior to CAMS. Mr. Katz is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in Economics.












Bhavesh Patel
, SVP Television Operations and Marketing, TVG/Betfair: Bhavesh Patel joined TVG as Senior Vice President of Television Operations and Marketing in September 2013, with the objective of moving the company more aggressively into the ever expanding world of digital technology. At TVG, the nation's largest horseracing TV network and Advanced Deposit Wagering (ADW) company, Patel is responsible for all revenue determinant decisions across the company's multiple business platforms, including television programming, ad sales, marketing initiatives, promotional programs, new product launches and social media. Patel came to TVG with a track record of success, most recently with the FOX family of networks, prior to that with the NBA. At FOX he served as Vice President of Interactive Media for FOX Soccer and FOX Deportes, where he headed up such media platforms as FOXSoccer.com, FOXDeportes.com, FOX Soccer 2Go online, and iPad and iPhone applications. Responsible for the daily operations, business development and editorial strategy for all interactive and digital media business of FOX Soccer and FOX Deportes, he helped elevate both to the #1 position in the market place. He also helped launch three HD TV networks. At the NBA, Patel was Director of Global Digital Media, helming digital strategy for all non-television platforms. Among his duties were negotiating digital distribution agreements with companies like Yahoo and YouTube, fantasy licensing and developing the leagues' first mobile product offerings in the US. A graduate of NYU's Stern School of Business with a degree in marketing and information systems, Patel began his career in investment banking. Born in India, Patel moved to New York City when he was four and grew up in the New York area. He currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two sons. An avid multiple sports fan, Patel's favorite recreational activities are Alpine skiing and cross country hiking. Active in community affairs, he is a founding member of the non-profit South Asians in Media and Marketing Association (SAMMA).

Jeffrey Haas, Director of Poker, bwin.party: Jeffrey joined bwin.party in September 2013 as Director of Poker overseeing the operation and strategic direction of the partypoker and bwin brands. Soon after joining the company, Jeffrey presided over the first phase re-launch of partypoker's new software as well as the successful re-entry into the US market with the launch of nj.partypoker.com in partnership with Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. Jeffrey has more than 10 years' experience within the gaming industry, both on and offline. In 2006, he joined PokerStars as their Director of Business Development for Asia Pacific and in that role founded the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT), the first series of poker tournaments produced in that region. In 2009, he was appointed Managing Director of PokerStars Live before being appointed Director of New Platforms, Mobile & Social Gaming in 2011 and then Director of Strategy & Business Development, New Platforms in early 2013. He has a background in economics from the University of British Columbia and in journalism from Ryerson University. With broad experience and interests in technology and the internet, Haas is a published writer having co-authored a book on corporate websites and as the writer of a 'Technology in Society' column for Now Magazine, Canada.





Tom Russell is the Director of Coalition for Consumer & Online Protection (C4COP). C4COP is an advocacy group formed to inform the public about online gambling and counter anti-legislative initiatives. C4COP counts former Representatives Mary Bono and Mike Oxley as well as former White House staffer Jim Messina among its leadership. Tom Russell has nearly 20 years of management experience in politics, as campaign manager, senior Capitol Hill staff, general consultant, and political journalist. His consulting practice focuses on strategic political and communications consulting, electoral campaigns, organizational management and assessment. His political campaigns have been cited as among the best run in the nation. In 2012, Russell led For Maryland Jobs and Schools, a campaign to pass Question 7, expanding and modernizing gaming laws in Maryland. Despite facing over $40 million in opposition spending, Question 7 passed, and the campaign was named the top 2012 ballot initiative campaign in the nation by the American Association of Political Consultants. In 2010, Russell served as campaign manager for the re-elect of Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, delivering a 14 point win over a popular former Governor in a difficult electoral environment. The campaign was named one of Politico's 10 best in the nation for 2010. Russell spent five years on Capitol Hill working for Senators Stabenow and Reid, including serving as staff director for the Senate Democratic Steering Committee.



Neil Fink, Managing Director, Neil Fink Associates, Neil is the founder of Neil Fink Associates and a Principle in Sycamore and Company; executive search and management consultancies. The firm's clients range from early stage to Fortune 500 companies covering communications, media, entertainment, enabling software & hardware technologies and consumer products. For over 25 years Neil Fink has been building executive teams for companies competing in emerging and changing markets. He spent 5 years as the west coast Managing Director of a global executive search firm, and the leader of that firm's entertainment and technology practice. Just prior, Neil was a founding partner of Ellington Wells, an executive search and management consulting firm. Before founding his own company Neil led the Broadcast Operations practice for a Los Angeles based executives search firm. A veteran of the executive recruitment community, Neil is often asked by companies to assist in other areas of corporate decision making, including mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiations, organizational development and compensation plans. His advisory work included Senior Advisor to Worrell Water Technology, and seats on the Board of Advisors of the University of California Extension School of Business, TargetCast Networks, MaximumTV and Eatv. He is also Steering Committee member of the Business Leadership Council. His additional pro bono work includes the American Film Institute, Independent Television Service and the Women's Sports Foundation. Neil has spoken at numerous industry associations and conferences such as Audio Engineering Society, Computer Games Developers Conference, National Association of Music Merchants, National Association of Broadcasters, National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, and American Film Institute.
